Here’s what I think: I don’t need one special day a year to remind me to be the best me I can.

I know every day what I need to do, I don’t need a day on a calendar reminding me to “eat right, exercise more, blah blah blah.”

In fact, I need four of them. Short and long term, down on paper, hung where I can see them, four times a year.

A class study at Harvard found that only 3% of students had written goals 4x a year and that 20 years later those 3% were wealthier (and I hope, healthier and happier) than the other 97% combined.

For obvious reasons I keep many of these goals private (financial, relationship), but I’ve shared the fun ones with you several times. So here we go, time to revise the list and add more junk to it.

~ Take a bellydance class
~ Learn to play the drums, the cello or the harp
~ Run a full marathon, no more half marathons
~ Sky dive
~ Laugh…a lot (on going)
~ See the pyramids
~ Learn to snowboard
~ Stay in a treehouse in Fiji (or at least south Georgia)
~ Continue to be thankful (on going)
~ Swim nekkid in a big bright blue ocean with no one around for miles
~ Learn to ride (aka drive, man, command) a motorcycle or scooter
~ Finish at least one script and submit it
~ Compete in a biathlon or triathlon
~ Grab a cheap fare and split for Paris or London on a whim
~ Travel on a whim more: Paris, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid, Zurich or Rome
~ Go to a concert, deal with the crowd, and be happy about it
~ Play a team sport and not freak out about it
~ Learn to knit
~ Take a photography class and buy a better camera

So tell me, my babies, what shall I add next?

P.S. I slept 12 hours last night. Word.

Update: going to learn to snowboard in February in NC. Going to the hostel in the forest (treehouse) in late May.

    Maigh,
You should go learn to snowboard in some real mountains. The kind that surround your pal in Park City.

That’s true, but if you want to talk real mtns, I’ll just go “home”.

Challenge is that The Mc isn’t a fan of flying (on account of being a pysics major? discuss) so I have to bank the flight requests and only use them when I *really* need him to do it.

You got me there, however you should hit up AK’s mtn’s after you have gotten somewhat of experience. Maybe the “hills” of NC would be better for you to start off on…

  5. DH does not like to travel either. Next time you are traveling to Europe on a whim, call me.
