Last night we welcomed a (yet to be named) new family member into our home. Please welcome the fella I’m currently calling “Little Dude”, our much anticipated Devon Rex.

Little Dude

Let the naming shenanigans commence.

I can’t wait to meet Little Dude! I’ll put my thinking cap on to try and find a super name for the guy.

He was just saying how anxious he is to meet you, too.

Kelly and I were brainstorming this morning based on his goatee…something The Count of Monte Cristo-ish, perhaps. Or “Mort”. I’ll explain why in person where the internets can’t crucify me.

I don’t care what you name him, I LOVE him already… I wonder if he and Tamale can be friends? Gwen and I tried that with her cats… it didn’t work out so well.

Hmm…considering the breed, I’d name him Tyrone.
    As in Tyron-e-saurus-Rex!

Ya’ll crack me up. We’re teetering on the edge of keeping it “Little Dude”, but we’ve also been trying on “Cash”, “Dec” (an acronym) and Dubhlainn (pro: “dove + lin”) which comes from dubh “black” and lan “blade, sword” = “black sword.” I like that one b/c he has kind of a reverse skunk thing happening (see it here: http://tinyurl.com/2bb49y).

The legend of the name rules, too: Dubhlainn loved the fairy queen and legendary harpist Aoibhell who gave him her cloak of invisibility to wear in battle.

I mean really – who doesn’t love a fairy queen who gives rad presents?
